The crowd rose to their feet as Guatemala's Juan José Ferraro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jan Laada. That made the score 3-0 after 26 minutes of play. Juan José Ferraro took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jan Laada. Jan Laada dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-0 at half-time.

Baltazar Gallardo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aćim Ajdarić in the 52nd minute of the match. Guatemala's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Edgar Salinas in the 55th minute. Jan Laada came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Guatemala's Juan José Ferraro. But to his dismay, Juan José Ferraro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. 63 minutes into the game, Guatemala's Juan José Ferraro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jan Laada made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. Guatemala made a substitution. Angel Alvarenga replaced Claudio Cabrera. Guatemala made a substitution. Jan Laada was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jan Laada came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Guatemala's Juan José Ferraro. But to his dismay, Juan José Ferraro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 10-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Guatemala fully deserved thier win.
