Match Report

National Stadium
Spectators: 10300 (Terracing: 7725, Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206)
The mood of the audience was pleasant when Yancy Tamam made the kick off which started today's match. If Reuven Albaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Yancy Tamam, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 3 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Rafael Thebe was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 5 minutes, Akil Fredericks mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 South Africa and the U21 Israel players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of U21 Israel booed when U21 South Africa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Akil Fredericks didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute Yancy Tamam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Thebe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Lindo Sewele put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Yancy Weiss. Lindo Sewele sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. U21 South Africa's Rafael Thebe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yancy Tamam in the 16th minute of play. If Lindo Sewele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st minute, U21 South Africa's Akil Fredericks ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Yancy Weiss. Yancy Weiss yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Allan King sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 25 played minutes, U21 South Africa's Lebang Sibeko shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Yancy Weiss came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 South Africa reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lindo Sewele got free with Yancy Weiss in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Yancy Tamam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Rafael Thebe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rafael Thebe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yancy Tamam, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. 35 minutes into the match, Boaz Michlin notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of U21 South Africa's Rafael Thebe. Rafael Thebe was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, U21 Israel's Yancy Tamam got a free kick in the 40th minute. An unexpected shot in the 42nd minute by Allan King got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jov Hanan during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lindo Sewele was the one to do the kick off. Yancy Weiss showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lindo Sewele in the 52nd minute of the match. Reuven Albaz's late challenge caught a U21 South Africa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Reuven Albaz helped the player get up and apologised. Reuven Albaz hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Lindo Sewele took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Yancy Weiss. Yancy Weiss dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. 58 minutes into the match, Allan King had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yancy Weiss. U21 Israel's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Allan King was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. The audience was convinced that Boaz Michlin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rafael Thebe was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Boaz Michlin put it in 4-2 from a short distance just to the right of Rafael Thebe. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Israel's zone, Allan King stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Yancy Weiss came out of the goal and Allan King tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 78th minute, Boaz Michlin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 83rd minute, Boaz Michlin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rafael Thebe came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Israel's Joy Tsirelberg. But to his dismay, Joy Tsirelberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-4. The supporters of U21 Israel booed when U21 South Africa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lindo Sewele didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 92nd minute, U21 Israel's Joy Tsirelberg ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rafael Thebe. Rafael Thebe yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 5-5. 95 minutes into the game, Boaz Michlin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-6. Rafael Thebe was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the final whistle went the supporters of U21 Israel were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant U21 South Africa side.
