Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) U21 Sweden's Johnny Strömbom started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute Radowit Piczak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens-Ola Backlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Radowit Piczak in the 5th minute of play forced U21 Sweden's goalkeeper Jens-Ola Backlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jens-Ola Backlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Kosmatka, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sten Lustig got free with Konstanty Jaroch in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 12th minute Johnny Strömbom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Konstanty Jaroch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute of the match U21 Sweden got a corner. U21 Poland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ralf-Bertil Larsson ran over to the corner to take the kick. Jens-Ola Backlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Kosmatka, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. U21 Poland's Adam Kosmatka got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 22ndth minute of the game Radowit Piczak who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Sweden's Jens-Ola Backlund was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Sten Lustig could shoot a difficult shot in the 23rd minute, which Konstanty Jaroch however easily saved by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sten Lustig got free with Konstanty Jaroch in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Poland's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ralf-Bertil Larsson was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Sweden's players had a chance to rest. A well done corner resulted in August Hermansson drilling the ball in to score 1-0 behind U21 Poland's goalkeeper. Jens-Ola Backlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Kosmatka, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Jens-Ola Backlund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Radowit Piczak in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th minute Johnny Strömbom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Konstanty Jaroch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sten Lustig's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Konstanty Jaroch firmly grabbed it by the left post. After having played for 36 minutes, Radowit Piczak managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Poland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Radowit Piczak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 39th minute, Krzysztof Ratajczyk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sten Lustig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Konstanty Jaroch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. U21 Sweden's Jens-Ola Backlund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Radowit Piczak in the 42nd minute of play. 45 minutes into the game, August Hermansson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Sweden's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Poland the free kick. After a rather tough play, U21 Sweden's August Hermansson got a free kick in the 45th minute. In the 65th minute, Johnny Strömbom got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 71 minutes into the match, Sten Lustig notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of U21 Poland's Konstanty Jaroch. Konstanty Jaroch was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. U21 Poland's Radomil Brudzisz was substituted for Adam Kosmatka. Radomil Brudziszs short, quick shot in the 76thth minute got Jens-Ola Backlund to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 77 played minutes U21 Sweden got a freekick which was hit by Jonas Adelsköld. Jens-Ola Backlund showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zerem Jest in the 89th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Radomil Brudzisz in the 90th minute of play forced U21 Sweden's goalkeeper Jens-Ola Backlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Sten Lustig came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the U21 Sweden fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sten Lustig couldn't finish the play. After having played for 94 minutes, Peter Ahlén managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Sweden's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Ahlén was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. U21 Sweden's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
