Rod Fairbank showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Blaise Patry, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Omer Norman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simeon Thorne in the 17th minute of the match. A collision led to Canada getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Paris Witt hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the game, Canada's Blaise Patry nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 42nd minute of the match, Simeon Thorne tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Omer Norman saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 43rd minute England were awarded a corner. Émile Zola went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Émile Zola got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Omer Norman quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Erik Loiselle tried in the game's 44th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Omer Norman. An annoying self made goal, 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Omer Norman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
