In the 9th minute of the match, Joris Rix got a very nice opportunity to score, but Vasile Şoimaru was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Vasile Şoimaru was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Joris Rix showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 9 minute of play. Joris Rix struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Vasile Şoimaru didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Belgium. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horea Bilașco in the 19th minute of play forced U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Gwen Van Langendonckx to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, U21 Romania's Toader Tănasă got a free kick in the 20th minute. Joris Rix fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vasile Şoimaru having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Bartjan Iwens's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vasile Şoimaru was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Gwen Van Langendonckx showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Horea Bilașco, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 44th minute Horea Bilașco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gwen Van Langendonckx saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gwen Van Langendonckx took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Alexiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. U21 Romania were awarded a corner in the 47th minute after U21 Belgium's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Toader Tănasă took the corner.

The wind increased when Petru Joldea made the kick off in the second half. If Horea Bilașco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th minute of the match, Horea Bilașco tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gwen Van Langendonckx saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 60 minutes into the match, U21 Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Petru Joldea came free, but Gwen Van Langendonckx reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A hard shot 63 in the game by Emanuel Alexiu from a close distance when the talented Gwen Van Langendonckx managed to make a qualified save. U21 Belgium's players were relieved. With a little luck, U21 Belgium's Gwen Van Langendonckx got control of the ball when Horea Bilașco tried to sneak it across the goal line. Horea Bilașco took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gwen Van Langendonckx. After having played for 80 minutes, Joris Rix managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Belgium's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joris Rix was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. U21 Belgium made a substitution. Joris Van Aertvin replaced Bartjan Iwens. In the 84th minute Emanuel Alexiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gwen Van Langendonckx saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gwen Van Langendonckx showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Petrică Albu, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 87 minutes, Gwen Van Langendonckx successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. U21 Belgium's Gwen Van Langendonckx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petru Joldea in the 90th minute of play.
