U21 Belgium's Robbin Van Leemputte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Klaas Jan Mol in the 15th minute of play. Dennis Beerthuis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stephan Van den Paenhuysen, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferry Hebels in the 19th minute of play forced U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Robbin Van Leemputte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robbin Van Leemputte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roelof Molenaar in the 21st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Klaas Jan Mol in the 22nd minute of play forced U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Robbin Van Leemputte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Klaas Jan Mol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. After a rather tough play, U21 Netherlands's Marnix Mastebroek got a free kick in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Robert Collen to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Klaas Jan Mol notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of U21 Belgium's Robbin Van Leemputte. Robbin Van Leemputte was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Joop Van Impe kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. 86 minutes into the game, U21 Netherlands's Dave Bense nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Robbin Van Leemputte made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-8. With a little luck, U21 Belgium's Robbin Van Leemputte got control of the ball when Klaas Jan Mol tried to sneak it across the goal line. Robbin Van Leemputte stood somewhat misplaced when Robert Collen came free in front of goal and shot 0-9 to the left of him in the 89 minute. A collision led to U21 Netherlands getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Marnix Mastebroek hit a great ball. Dennis Beerthuis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oliver Bormans in the 95th minute of play. U21 Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
