In the 91stth minute of the game Fredrik Creemers who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Brakkies New Bastards's Nico Van Meerbek was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nico Van Meerbek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Suat Kaya, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rain De Hond in the 96th minute of play forced Brakkies New Bastards's goalkeeper Nico Van Meerbek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There was no doubt that Genk were the better team. Genk's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
