Roy Holman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kerry Sellers in the 4th minute of the match. Kerry Sellers might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roy Holman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kerry Sellers ran back to his position shaking his head. Mountain West FC's Roy Holman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kerry Sellers in the 10th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Chris Reyna notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón. Farid Mondragón was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Steve Mata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Farid Mondragón having to interfere. 20 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Chris Reyna came free, but Farid Mondragón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sid Chadwick came free with the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Roy Holman could save by the left post. Farid Mondragón took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chris Reyna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of C. A. Independiente booed when Mountain West FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steve Mata didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roy Holman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sid Chadwick in the 39th minute. In the 41st minute Kerry Sellers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roy Holman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudio Marangoni hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 43rd minute, Steve Mata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 47 minutes into the match, Sid Chadwick dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Roy Holman, 1-1. C. A. Independiente's Tommie Bolton was substituted for Garth Gould. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Tommie Bolton made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the game, C. A. Independiente's Kerry Sellers nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Roy Holman made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Roy Holman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tommie Bolton in the 65th minute of play. Montrel Belber lost his temper 66 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 65th minute, one of Mountain West FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mountain West FC. In the 67th minute there was a penalty for C. A. Independiente. Tommie Bolton stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Roy Holman. 4-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sid Chadwick in the 81st minute of play forced Mountain West FC's goalkeeper Roy Holman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 84 minutes into the game, Chris Reyna was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mountain West FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C. A. Independiente the free kick. C. A. Independiente made a substitution. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sidney Forbes in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roy Holman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When C. A.
