Polikarp Miheev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonio Navarro in the 14th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the match, Malta's goal looked a bit too open when Rodion Nikitin came free, but Leonardo Da Vinci reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Polikarp Miheev stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Antonio Navarro's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. When Malta's Antonio Navarro in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Russia's goalie prevented a goal. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Russia's goalkeeper Polikarp Miheev, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonio Navarro in the 36th minute of play forced Russia's goalkeeper Polikarp Miheev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Russia's Polikarp Miheev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Navarro in the 42nd minute of play. 44 minutes into the match, Russia's goal looked a bit too open when Antonio Navarro came free, but Polikarp Miheev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, John Lennon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Malta's supporters rose to their feet, but John Lennon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Polikarp Miheev breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Parfen Babarykin made a kick off. Sergey Zhdanov kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Lennon in the 61st minute of play forced Russia's goalkeeper Polikarp Miheev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Malta's Daryl Mizzi was substituted for Thomas Sapienza. Malta's Edward Saliba was substituted for Jean Carl Mintoff. Malta's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Neil Degabriele in the 63rd minute. At last the ball reached Antonio Navarro at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Russia. 2-0. Polikarp Miheev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Lennon, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. 71 minutes into the match, Malta's Antonio Navarro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Polikarp Miheev narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Polikarp Miheev dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Russia's Polikarp Miheev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Sammut in the 91st minute of play. Malta were awarded a corner in the 92th minute after Russia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Neil Degabriele took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Neil Degabriele got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Polikarp Miheev quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Parfen Babarykin scored 3-1 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Leonardo Da Vinci, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Malta were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Russia for a fine match.
