But to his dismay, Romão Mourato quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Marjus Laçka didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Romão Mourato went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Albania's Nderim Pepo was substituted for Mehat Kovaçi.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Portugal's Adalberto Viegas managed to work through Albania's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Adalberto Viegas dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Filipe Viveiros blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marjus Laçka having to make a save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Portugal fans cheered their team off the field, for while Albania had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
