José Paulo Batista hit a great ball. Pedro Augusto Massa lost his temper 32 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 31st minute of the game. One of Átomo F.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Nova Iguaçu MZFC:s goal. Átomo F.C.:s Dorival Travassos showed great skill when he stopped Gilmar Donato:s penalty. In the 34th minute Agnaldo Vargas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dorival Travassos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute Nova Iguaçu MZFC were awarded a corner. Gilmar Donato went to the cornerflag to take it. Doni Donato thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Dorival Travassos, a very annoying self made goal in the 36th minute which led to 0-1. Dorival Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agnaldo Vargas in the 47th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Agnaldo Vargas to make the kick off. Zé do Valle charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zé do Valle the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Átomo F.C. getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. With his leg Dorival Travassos managed to avoid a goal in the 57thth minute, when Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Agnaldo Vargas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Vítor Vieira in the 60th minute of play forced Átomo F.C.'s goalkeeper Dorival Travassos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dorival Travassos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Cerezo in the 66th minute of the match.
