Teodoro Barger was slow to take the kick. During this time Canada's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Teodoro Barger almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Slovenia's Klemen Mikuž did a great save. Slovenia's Klemen Mikuž played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Metin Tekin in the 31st minute of play. 38 minutes in the game Issac Holliday did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Metin Tekin. Slovenia's Armando Vogrinčič got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute Metin Tekin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Klemen Mikuž saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 49th minute of the match Teodoro Barger shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Klemen Mikuž showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Murat Dogan to make the kick off. Gilberto Boone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Vogrinčič, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 56 minutes, Metin Tekin made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Slovenia's Klemen Mikuž tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Klemen Mikuž showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Metin Tekin, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Canada's Roberts Lewandowski was substituted for Jamey Hankins. The Slovenia fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Canada were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
