Murcia Promesas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sidney Schmidt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 20th minute Rosario Escobar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo-Luis Rodriguez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Newark Athletic Club's Terence Gale got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 29 minutes into the match, Murcia Promesas's goal looked a bit too open when Japke Bleiswijk came free, but Manuel Moya reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Newark Athletic Club's zone, Gav Smith stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelo-Luis Rodriguez came out of the goal and Gav Smith tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sidney Schmidt made a kick off. Sidney Schmidt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Manuel Moya read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Murcia Promesas's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Antony Mooney was slow to take the kick. During this time Newark Athletic Club's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Newark Athletic Club's Antony Mooney to fire away a dangerous shot which Manuel Moya despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 54 minutes, Terence Gale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Newark Athletic Club and the Murcia Promesas players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Murcia Promesas booed when Newark Athletic Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Terence Gale didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 60 played minutes Murcia Promesas got a freekick which was hit by Ziggy Zaga. Murcia Promesas made a substitution. Abram Elano replaced Gav Smith. Murcia Promesas's Tome Martin was substituted for Ziggy Zaga. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anton Best got free with Manuel Moya in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 63 played minutes Murcia Promesas got a freekick which was hit by Tebaldo Comas. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sidney Schmidt got free with Manuel Moya in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 70 minutes into the game, Abram Elano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Marcelo-Luis Rodriguez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Murcia Promesas's Manuel Moya proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Murcia Promesas from getting a goal against them. 80 minutes into the match, Murcia Promesas's goal looked a bit too open when Japke Bleiswijk came free, but Manuel Moya reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Coronel Durango kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Sidney Schmidt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Moya having to interfere. Marcelo-Luis Rodriguez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tome Martin, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The Murcia Promesas players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
