After taking down the ball on Vetusta's corner Lei Yuan Zheng fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Dražen Ladić quite easily take care of the ball. 21 minutes into the match, Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's goal looked a bit too open when Normando Veloso came free, but Dražen Ladić reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vetusta were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lei Yuan Zheng took the corner. Vetusta's Lei Yuan Zheng was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dražen Ladić in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Vetusta's Wincent Koczara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Vetusta from getting a goal against them. Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's Dražen Ladić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ascencio Quintas in the 31st minute of play. After having played for 33 minutes, Marcelo Cordero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelo Cordero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcelo Cordero struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Wincent Koczara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT. With a little luck, Vetusta's Wincent Koczara got control of the ball when Marcelo Cordero tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ascencio Quintas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Marcelo Cordero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 56th minute, Zelipe Cuevas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wincent Koczara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelo Cordero, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Dražen Ladić made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ascencio Quintas in the 65th minute of play. If Marcelo Cordero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. Fisica UNT booed when Vetusta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Normando Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marco Palomar replaced Ascencio Quintas. Chano Turienzo hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. The Vetusta supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Vetusta would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
