The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 6 minutes, Marin Matošin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Povratnici's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marin Matošin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Costel Mortu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pavao Nemet in the 10th minute of play. Ionel Burileanu got a throw-in 12 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Horaţiu Buciuman. Pavao Nemet recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pavao Nemet blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Costel Mortu having to make a save. If Pavao Nemet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Costel Mortu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pavao Nemet's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. If Pavao Nemet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Costel Mortu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pavao Nemet in the 31st minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Pavao Nemet had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Costel Mortu. Poli Iași's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pavao Nemet was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Marin Matošin scored 0-2 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Costel Mortu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Povratnici's Marin Matošin got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pavao Nemet to make the kick off. Cornel Filipoiu hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. Costel Mortu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 62nd match minute, Povratnici was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nino Rakočević to maneuver through the defense. Povratnici's Višeslav Berend played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Remus Nuțu in the 63rd minute of play. Costel Mortu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pavao Nemet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marin Matošin came free with the goalkeeper in the 69th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Costel Mortu could save by the left post. 73 minutes into the match, Poli Iași's goalkeeper Costel Mortu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marin Matošin. If Pavao Nemet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute Pavao Nemet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Costel Mortu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Poli Iași getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Olimpiu Florean hit a great ball. Poli Iași's defense didn't have a chance, in the 84th minute, when Pavao Nemet scored to the left of an out of position Costel Mortu, making the score, 0-6. Costel Mortu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pavao Nemet, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. If Pavao Nemet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Poli Iași's Costel Mortu got control of the ball when Marin Matošin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Povratnici's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
