Gary Kelly was out of position in the 18 minute of play, and Andriy Shevchenko capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. The Club Atlético de Newell fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when Club Atlético de Newell's Sebastian Percival looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Spike Foley in the 39th minute of play forced Ullún's goalkeeper CJ 曾诚 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sukma Adriansyah got free with Gary Kelly in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sebastian Percival to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Club Atlético de Newell defense, Andriy Shevchenko kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gary Kelly. The Club Atlético de Newell fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gary Kelly should have stopped the shot. Club Atlético de Newell may have spent more time on the ball, but Ullún were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
