Dante Fernendo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jeremias Velloso showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 18 minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Jeremias Velloso came free, but Dante Fernendo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ademar Rocha in the 30th minute of play forced El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's goalkeeper Carmelo Orkatz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carmelo Orkatz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matias Bilintx in the 35th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Venancio Inko could shoot a difficult shot in the 41st minute, which Dante Fernendo however easily saved by the left post. Matias Bilintx scored 1-1 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carmelo Orkatz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Sporting de Gijón's Volli Püss was substituted for Rune Fanström. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Matias Bilintx made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's goalkeeper Carmelo Orkatz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ademar Rocha. After 58 minutes Sporting de Gijón's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Damian Tulio who took care of the corner kick. Damian Tulio made a great header on El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's corner, it was just that Sporting de Gijón's Dante Fernendo managed to reach the ball for a save. But to his dismay, Victorino Tiniebra quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. 76 minutes into the game, Victorino Tiniebra cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Dante Fernendo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Carmelo Orkatz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saturnino Curcio in the 82nd minute of play. Dante Fernendo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victorino Tiniebra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carmelo Orkatz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Matias Bilintx in the 86th minute. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Dante Fernendo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 88 minutes into the game, El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's Victorino Tiniebra nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dante Fernendo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. 91 minutes into the match, El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's Victorino Tiniebra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dante Fernendo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Damian Tulio in the 92nd minute. A nice corner shot did that Damian Tulio got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dante Fernendo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 93rd minute, Ademar Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carmelo Orkatz made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when Ademar Rocha sent off a good shot on target. Sporting de Gijón's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
