Joaquin Yang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th match minute, Athetic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kasey Rocha to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Denis Flint during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 14th match minute, Mason City FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denis Flint to maneuver through the defense. 17 minutes into the match, Mason City FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dante Link came free, but Kip Horner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Athetic fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when Athetic's Dante Link looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Athetic's Allen Raines played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquin Yang in the 23rd minute of play. If Alfredo Cora had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kip Horner was out of position in the 27 minute of play, and Kasey Rocha capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kasey Rocha really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Dante Link fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kip Horner having to interfere. In the 32nd minute, Phil Fair hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dante Link sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Dante Link came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Athetic fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dante Link couldn't finish the play. 39 minutes into the match, Athetic's Dante Link sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kip Horner narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kip Horner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dante Link in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 48th minute Dante Link shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kip Horner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joaquin Yang to make the kick off. After having played for 52 minutes, Ramon Wright managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Athetic's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ramon Wright was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Kasey Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dante Link scored 3-0 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kip Horner, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Kip Horner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dante Link, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dante Link received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Kip Horner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 70 minutes into the game, Dante Link cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Kip Horner was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dante Link fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kip Horner having to interfere. Kip Horner came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Athetic's Dante Link. But to his dismay, Dante Link quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Kip Horner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dante Link in the 79th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 81 minutes, the score became 6-0 when Dante Link sped through Mason City FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kip Horner. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Joaquin Yang managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mason City FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Joaquin Yang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Allen Raines breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 86 played minutes Athetic got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo Cora. Kip Horner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dante Link in the 88th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kasey Rocha in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kip Horner saved Mason City FC from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dante Link in the 95th minute of play forced Mason City FC's goalkeeper Kip Horner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Mason City FC's zone, Dante Link stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kip Horner came out of the goal and Dante Link tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Athetic had played much better football throughout.
