When Jacques Coppack fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cincinnati Strikers's protests and gave Jacques Coppack a yellow card for diving instead. Dante Link received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Alistair Acuna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ramon Wright sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kasey Rocha during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Athetic getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Kasey Rocha hit a great ball. If Kasey Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cincinnati Strikers's Alistair Acuna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ramon Wright in the 24th minute of play. The supporters of Athetic booed when Cincinnati Strikers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacques Coppack didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 27th minute by Ramon Wright got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Kurtis Clinton kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. In the 33rd minute, Dante Link got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cincinnati Strikers's Son Ware got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Dante Link managed to get in a good position for a shot. Athetic's supporters rose to their feet, but Dante Link was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alistair Acuna breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 38th minute, Kasey Rocha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alistair Acuna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dante Link in the 39th minute of play. Kasey Rocha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dante Link sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 43 minutes into the match, Athetic's Dante Link sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alistair Acuna narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Son Ware to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Ramon Wright got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
