An unexpectedly hard shot by 罗响铮 in the 18th minute of play forced Santos FC's goalkeeper Aaron Smallwood to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dexter Holt in the 19th minute of play. 罗响铮 blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aaron Smallwood having to make a save. Aaron Smallwood showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 罗响铮 in the 22nd minute of the match. Lanny Gilmore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Mario Dutton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lanny Gilmore in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mario Dutton saved Panathinaikos FC from getting behind. In the 26th match minute, Panathinaikos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ken Griffith to maneuver through the defense. Panathinaikos FC's Mario Dutton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dominic Albright in the 27th minute of play. Panathinaikos FC:s Mario Dutton showed great skill when he stopped Lanny Gilmore:s penalty. When Lanny Gilmore came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Santos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lanny Gilmore couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Panathinaikos FC booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tyron Velasquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 37th minute of the match Raik İlkut sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aaron Smallwood skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Santos FC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Lanny Gilmore hit a great ball. 48 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dexter Holt came free, but Aaron Smallwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when 罗响铮 stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goalkeeper Aaron Smallwood had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paul Iftodi. A very good chance for a goal. 77 minutes into the match, Santos FC's Terence Nicholas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mario Dutton narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Aaron Smallwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dexter Holt in the 78th minute of play. Panathinaikos FC were awarded a corner in the 85th minute after Santos FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. 乔光云 took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Santos FC's goalie and right to Indrek Veskimeister. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Santos FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. When Lanny Gilmore came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Santos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lanny Gilmore couldn't finish the play. Aaron Smallwood made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Paul Iftodi sent off a good shot on target. Vern Pierre lost his temper 93 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 93 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Santos FC! Aaron Smallwood went to the wrong direction when 罗响铮 was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Aaron Smallwood showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 罗响铮 in the 96th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Santos FC's Tory Weeks got a free kick in the 97th minute. Panathinaikos FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
