Anderson Staley hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, CFR Sibiu's Donovan Vincent got a free kick in the 10th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lott in the 17th minute of play forced CFR Sibiu's goalkeeper Ziemowit Zbydniewski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th match minute, C.S.M. Resita was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gregg Vertefeuille to maneuver through the defense. An unexpected shot in the 19th minute by Luca Dănilă got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Garrett Gladu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luca Dănilă, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. In the 27thth minute of the game Mariano Lott who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CFR Sibiu's Ziemowit Zbydniewski was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ziemowit Zbydniewski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lott, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. CFR Sibiu were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after C.S.M. Resita's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Hipólito Zambujal took the corner. Hipólito Zambujal made a great header on CFR Sibiu's corner, it was just that C.S.M. Resita's Garrett Gladu managed to reach the ball for a save. With a little luck, C.S.M. Resita's Garrett Gladu got control of the ball when Costel Novăceanu tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 43rd minute Mariano Lott shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ziemowit Zbydniewski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jaen Albino fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CFR Sibiu's protests and gave Jaen Albino a yellow card for diving instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mariano Lott to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Hipólito Zambujal cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Garrett Gladu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Garrett Gladu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hipólito Zambujal in the 53rd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mariano Lott got free with Ziemowit Zbydniewski in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Garrett Gladu came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by CFR Sibiu's Costel Novăceanu. But to his dismay, Costel Novăceanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. 60 minutes into the match, C.S.M. Resita's goal looked a bit too open when Luca Dănilă came free, but Garrett Gladu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 62 minutes into the match, CFR Sibiu's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lott came free, but Ziemowit Zbydniewski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chong Lamontagne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ziemowit Zbydniewski having to interfere. Resita fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. 75 minutes into the match, CFR Sibiu's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lott came free, but Ziemowit Zbydniewski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. CFR Sibiu's Ziemowit Zbydniewski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save CFR Sibiu from getting a goal against them. Costel Novăceanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garrett Gladu having to interfere. After having played for 85 minutes, Luca Dănilă managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CFR Sibiu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luca Dănilă was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of CFR Sibiu booed when C.S.M. Resita was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quincy Cahill didn't get a good kick on the ball. Garrett Gladu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luca Dănilă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 89th minute, Hipólito Zambujal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Garrett Gladu was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Ziemowit Zbydniewski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Lott in the 95th minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. CFR Sibiu fully deserved thier win.
