Topsail's supporters rose to their feet, but Avo Kilk was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilberto Boone breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Varennes getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Maurice Odonnell hit a great ball. The supporters of Topsail booed when Varennes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quincy Loyd didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Avo Kilk in the 14th minute of play forced Varennes's goalkeeper Gilberto Boone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maurice Odonnell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24th minute Avo Kilk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto Boone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the last second Gilberto Boone throw himself and got hold of the ball when Avo Kilk in the 25thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. The corner led Topsail's Fabrizio Petrucci to fire away a dangerous shot which Gilberto Boone despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Roberts Lewandowski struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Gilberto Boone didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Topsail. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Avo Kilk in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilberto Boone saved Varennes from getting behind. Topsail were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after Varennes's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fabrizio Petrucci took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Fabrizio Petrucci got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gilberto Boone quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wendell Petit in the 33rd minute of play forced Topsail's goalkeeper Bill Carmichael to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Varennes's Gilberto Boone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Avo Kilk in the 35th minute of play. Avo Kilk struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Gilberto Boone didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Topsail. Bill Carmichael took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maurice Odonnell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 47th minute, Avo Kilk got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

53 minutes into the match, Topsail's goal looked a bit too open when Wendell Petit came free, but Bill Carmichael reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Topsail's Bill Carmichael proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Topsail from getting a goal against them. Runar Myrland's late challenge caught a Varennes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Runar Myrland helped the player get up and apologised. In the 58th match minute, Topsail was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Runar Myrland to maneuver through the defense. Gilberto Boone showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donzel Goyeneta in the 59th minute of the match. Fernando Negro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bill Carmichael made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Seth Luke in the 72nd minute of play. Varennes's Titus Pineda was substituted for Bernardo Goudreau. Varennes were awarded a corner in the 75th minute after Topsail's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Théophile Berger took the corner. Gilberto Boone showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Runar Myrland in the 78th minute of the match.
