When Dedê Rosa fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored EC JUVENTUDE's protests and gave Dedê Rosa a yellow card for diving instead. After 4 played minutes EC JUVENTUDE got a freekick which was hit by Dedê Rosa. In the 5th minute, Fabian Rydberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hernani Coelho charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hernani Coelho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some careless play in the EC JUVENTUDE defense, Edson Domingues kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Durval da Costa. The EC JUVENTUDE fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Durval da Costa should have stopped the shot. In the 30th minute, Luís Paulo Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manoel Damião in the 31st minute of play forced EC JUVENTUDE's goalkeeper Durval da Costa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Dedê Rosa managed to get in a good position for a shot. EC JUVENTUDE's supporters rose to their feet, but Dedê Rosa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hudson Chaves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dedê Rosa in the 38th minute of play forced O líder voltou's goalkeeper Hudson Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in O líder voltou's zone, Dedê Rosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hudson Chaves came out of the goal and Dedê Rosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 45 minutes into the match, O líder voltou's goal looked a bit too open when Dedê Rosa came free, but Hudson Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Durval da Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edson Domingues in the 46th minute of play. O líder voltou's Abelardo Hoffmann got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The EC JUVENTUDE players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. O líder voltou were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dedê Rosa was the one to do the kick off. Abelardo Hoffmann could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Durval da Costa made a huge save. Abelardo Hoffmann in the 53rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Durval da Costa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
