Jaime Arruda started the match with the kick off. Dorival Duarte's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gert Dornak read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. Gert Dornak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorival Duarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 7 minutes into the game, Luiz Fabiano Hoffmann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bruscão da Massa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independente the free kick. The supporters of Independente booed when Bruscão da Massa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fabiano Hoffmann didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th minute of the match Independente got a corner. Bruscão da Massa's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gilmar Godoi ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Gilmar Godoi almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Bruscão da Massa's Gert Dornak did a great save. After a defensive mix-up in Bruscão da Massa's zone, Dorival Duarte stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gert Dornak came out of the goal and Dorival Duarte tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 15 minutes into the game, Flávio Simões was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bruscão da Massa the free kick. Flávio Simões kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. In the 17th minute Vágner Torres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gert Dornak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Michel Varela charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Michel Varela the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Michel Varela hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Léo França was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 25th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. If Jaime Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Independente getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Fred Pitta hit a great ball. Didi Rosado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Luciano Magalhães made a huge save. Vágner Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gert Dornak having to interfere. When José Pedro Mattos fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bruscão da Massa's protests and gave José Pedro Mattos a yellow card for diving instead.

An unexpected shot in the 52nd minute by Vágner Torres got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 57 minutes into the game, Bruscão da Massa's Didi Rosado nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luciano Magalhães made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Didi Rosado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Luciano Magalhães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Bruscão da Massa's Leopoldo do Nascimento got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute of the match Gilmar Godoi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gert Dornak showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Bruscão da Massa booed when Independente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilmar Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luciano Magalhães came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by Bruscão da Massa's Jaime Arruda. But to his dismay, Jaime Arruda quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Gert Dornak made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vágner Torres in the 78th minute of play. In the 88th minute Vágner Torres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gert Dornak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jaime Arruda in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luciano Magalhães prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luciano Magalhães stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Didi Rosado's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Bruscão da Massa had won after a very even match.
