The Independente FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mário Arce should have stopped the shot. Marcelinho Cardoso who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Mário Arce when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mário Arce, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Elivélton Corrêa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Luizinho Negri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 42 played minutes Atlético Lucena FC got a freekick which was hit by Vítor Tasso. After having played for 47 minutes, Marcelinho Cardoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Lucena FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelinho Cardoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Elivélton Corrêa to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Elivélton Corrêa fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 56 minutes into the match, Marcelinho Cardoso had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mário Arce. Independente FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcelinho Cardoso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Mário Arce came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético Lucena FC's Marcelinho Cardoso. But to his dismay, Marcelinho Cardoso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. The supporters of Independente FC booed when Atlético Lucena FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo Matos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Erivaldo Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcelinho Cardoso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mário Arce read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. In the 73rd minute Marcelinho Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mário Arce saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Atlético Lucena FC's Marcelinho Cardoso got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mário Arce stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcelinho Cardoso's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. When Marcelinho Cardoso came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Atlético Lucena FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelinho Cardoso couldn't finish the play. Mário Arce didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marcelinho Cardoso went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score.
