The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Chicão Ortiz came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Mineirinhos Faminto's José Vítor Dracena. But to his dismay, José Vítor Dracena quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Jeferson Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frederico Rosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Chicão Ortiz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 10 played minutes Mineirinhos Faminto got a freekick which was hit by José Vítor Dracena. Nankatsu's Ferenc Mester shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 11th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Dino Maranhense but with some difficulty. 18 minutes into the game, Nankatsu's Jan Koller nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dino Maranhense made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Jan Koller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aníbal Moraes in the 26th minute of play forced Nankatsu's goalkeeper Chicão Ortiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Jan Koller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chicão Ortiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frederico Rosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Nankatsu getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Ferenc Mester hit a great ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Toninho Diniz to strike the kick off in the second half. Dino Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Toninho Diniz in the 54th minute of play. Jan Koller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Nankatsu's Benjamim Motta got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mineirinhos Faminto's José Vítor Dracena quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Luís Fábio Souto, made in the 70th minute of the game. After 76 minutes, Sérgio de Toledo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nankatsu and the Mineirinhos Faminto players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sérgio de Toledo kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Frederico Rosa got free with Chicão Ortiz in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Chicão Ortiz made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Aníbal Moraes sent off a good shot on target. Frederico Rosa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Chicão Ortiz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Jan Koller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Mineirinhos Faminto booed when Nankatsu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sérgio de Toledo didn't get a good kick on the ball.
