After 43 minutes, Álvaro Santos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Leria FC and the OFF players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of OFF booed when Leria FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Álvaro Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Leria FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When Diamantino Cabral came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Leria FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Diamantino Cabral couldn't finish the play. Gugu Pena made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Pedrão de Lima sent off a good shot on target. In the 62nd minute, Telmo Madureira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Telmo Madureira struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Gugu Pena didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leria FC. The audience was convinced that Abelardo Netto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Armandinho de Lara was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. Raí de Almeida took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gugu Pena. Gugu Pena dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3.
