Leonardo Carneiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Frank Pirani in the 15th minute. Egídio de Souza who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Leonardo Carneiro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 32ndth minute of the game Egídio de Souza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Recife Futebol Club's Leonardo Carneiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Leandro de Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Maria Secco, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Egídio de Souza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Frank Pirani managed to get in a good position for a shot. Teresina FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Frank Pirani was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leonardo Carneiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Leonardo Carneiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Egídio de Souza went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Egídio de Souza to make the kick off.
