The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dalmo Schmidt scored 1-1 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rafael Meireles, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Umber FC's Rafael Meireles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Durval Neiva in the 22nd minute of play. Dalmo Schmidt's late challenge caught a Umber FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dalmo Schmidt helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Umber FC booed when CRUZEIRO S.A was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dalmo Schmidt didn't get a good kick on the ball. CRUZEIRO S.A's Durval Neiva got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 27 minutes into the match, CRUZEIRO S.A's goal looked a bit too open when Gilberto Ferreira came free, but Cacá Prata reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 31st minute, Dalmo Schmidt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of CRUZEIRO S.A booed when Umber FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Teixeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute Dalmo Schmidt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Meireles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee gave CRUZEIRO S.A a penalty, 49 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Nico de Mendonça, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Umber FC's Rafael Meireles. 1-2.

After 93 played minutes Umber FC got a freekick which was hit by Lucas Teixeira. Rafael Meireles made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Dalmo Schmidt sent off a good shot on target. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
