After a rather tough play, Flamengo's Ramiro Sá got a free kick in the 20th minute. If Dalmo Vidal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. David Ribeiro was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dalmo Vidal showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 24 minute of play. If Dalmo Vidal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dalmo Vidal in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg David Ribeiro saved E.C 2 Janeiro RS from getting behind. Egídio Donato fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Carlos Barros having to interfere. David Ribeiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dalmo Vidal's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dalmo Vidal in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg David Ribeiro saved E.C 2 Janeiro RS from getting behind. A hard shot 45 in the game by Laércio Cabral from a close distance when the talented David Ribeiro managed to make a qualified save. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's players were relieved. Laércio Cabral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but David Ribeiro made a huge save.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Egídio Donato to make the kick off. The Flamengo fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Flamengo's Dalmo Vidal looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. David Ribeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dalmo Vidal, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. In the 57th minute, Fellipe Rezende made a precise shot to the right of João Carlos Barros. Flamengo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Dalmo Vidal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Flamengo's supporters rose to their feet, but Dalmo Vidal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Ribeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dalmo Vidal took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised David Ribeiro. David Ribeiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. In the 66th minute Laércio Cabral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Ribeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 67 minutes, Dalmo Vidal put it in 5-1 from a short distance just to the right of David Ribeiro. Laércio Cabral might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over David Ribeiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Laércio Cabral ran back to his position shaking his head. After 80 minutes, Egídio Donato mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the E.C 2 Janeiro RS and the Flamengo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 80 played minutes E.C 2 Janeiro RS got a freekick which was hit by Egídio Donato. After some careless play in the E.C 2 Janeiro RS defense, Laércio Cabral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of David Ribeiro. The E.C 2 Janeiro RS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Ribeiro should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Flamengo booed when E.C 2 Janeiro RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovanni Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in E.C 2 Janeiro RS fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 94th minute. Penalty! When the referee ended the match the Flamengo players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
