The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Campestrinho SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dida Martins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jonathan Fernandes's late challenge caught a Mandaguari SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonathan Fernandes helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Campestrinho SC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Jonathan Fernandes hit a great ball. In the 42nd minute of the match, Robinho Araújo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rogério Dionísio saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Dida Martins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Bernardo Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
