An unexpectedly hard shot by Christian Clemencin in the 4th minute of play forced Oranil's goalkeeper Sérgio Freire to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 5 minutes, Dagoberto Velasco made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Oranil's Sérgio Freire tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dagoberto Velasco in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sérgio Freire prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tiaguinho Torres kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Itália's Rodriguinho Motta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moisés de Sousa in the 16th minute of play. Oranil's Sérgio Freire played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Clemencin in the 19th minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Yoel Suarez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. After a defensive mix-up in Oranil's zone, Dagoberto Velasco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sérgio Freire came out of the goal and Dagoberto Velasco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dagoberto Velasco scored 0-3 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sérgio Freire, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 42nd minute, Sérgio das Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kiko Teixeira kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. 45 minutes into the match, Oranil's goal looked a bit too open when Helge Ödman came free, but Sérgio Freire reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Dagoberto Velasco made the kick off in the second half. Nilson Leão might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rodriguinho Motta. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nilson Leão ran back to his position shaking his head. Rodriguinho Motta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kléber Saldanha in the 56th minute of the match. Sérgio Freire took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christian Clemencin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 59th minute Yoel Suarez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sérgio Freire saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sérgio Freire showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yoel Suarez, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Carlos Fernando Proença kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. 68 minutes into the match, Yoel Suarez dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sérgio Freire, 0-4. With his leg Sérgio Freire managed to avoid a goal in the 79thth minute, when Itália's Dagoberto Velasco fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Carlos Fernando Proença fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Oranil's protests and gave Carlos Fernando Proença a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Oranil getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Carlos Fernando Proença hit a great ball. Oranil's Sérgio Freire played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dagoberto Velasco in the 83rd minute of play. With a little luck, Oranil's Sérgio Freire got control of the ball when Christian Clemencin tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 89th minute, Yoel Suarez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sérgio Freire was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. After a rather tough play, Oranil's Jacinto Loureiro got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Helge Ödman got free with Sérgio Freire in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle sounded Itália left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Oranil.
