Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Omar Illan to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Candido Baleren in the 58th minute of play forced Euskaldunak's goalkeeper Alberto Oalo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 59th minute Rodrigo Oroitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Felipe Chuan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Oscar Haimar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Candido Baleren took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 70th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alberto Oalo. Euskaldunak's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 73 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Oroitz came free, but Felipe Chuan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Hector Silvanito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 92 minutes into the game, Arsenio Maxin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Euskaldunak's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Manchester United the free kick. When the referee blew the final whistle, Manchester United could leave the field as winners, despite Euskaldunak having more of the ball for most of the match.
