In the 10th minute, Pascual Ipar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pascual Ipar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Baladi having to interfere. Club Atlético Guantánamo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Comunicaciones the free kick. Sergio Cordara kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Guantánamo's Marcelino Aztore sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos Baladi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atlético Guantánamo's zone, Dalmacio Hodei stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Godofredo Ihazintu came out of the goal and Dalmacio Hodei tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jesus Rivas might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Godofredo Ihazintu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jesus Rivas ran back to his position shaking his head. Marcelino Aztore was extremely unlucky when he, in the 43rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Carlos Baladi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pascual Ipar in the 45th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Club Comunicaciones's zone, Pastor Veremundo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Baladi came out of the goal and Pastor Veremundo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcelino Aztore to strike the kick off in the second half. Marcelino Aztore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Carlos Baladi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 72 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Jesus Rivas sped through Club Atlético Guantánamo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Godofredo Ihazintu. 81 minutes into the game, Jesus Rivas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. In the 90th minute, Jesus Rivas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Godofredo Ihazintu. The goal made the score 1-3. Severino Fonda took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 97th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Godofredo Ihazintu. Club Atlético Guantánamo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
