Benito Nabar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Melquiades Txurio having to interfere. Anacleto Medero blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Melquiades Txurio having to make a save. Alfonso Corderro hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 21st minute Petroquimica were awarded a corner. Uriel Santikurtz went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Uriel Santikurtz almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Gándara's Melquiades Txurio did a great save. The referee felt a red card was in order, 29 minutes into the game, when Damaso Heriberto put in a rough tackle. 28 minutes into the game, one of Gándara:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 38th minute, Anacleto Medero made a precise shot to the right of Melquiades Txurio. Gándara's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 42 minutes into the game, Petroquimica's Cornelio Garcia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Melquiades Txurio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. 46 minutes into the match, Gándara's goal looked a bit too open when Anacleto Medero came free, but Melquiades Txurio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Genaro Michael fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Petroquimica's protests and gave Genaro Michael a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Gándara booed when Petroquimica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Genaro Michael didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Aquiles Gil managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gándara's supporters rose to their feet, but Aquiles Gil was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leo Perpinya breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
Melquiades Txurio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anacleto Medero, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Gándara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aquiles Gil was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anacleto Medero in the 97th minute of play forced Gándara's goalkeeper Melquiades Txurio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle sounded Petroquimica left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Gándara.
