Edgard Matteo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baldomero Baleren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Mateo Azibar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grütly FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mateo Azibar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Florentino Cidro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 21 minutes into the match, Feliciano Napier dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Edgard Matteo, 2-0. 25 minutes into the match, Rigoberto Abreu notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of C.A. Independiente's Florentino Cidro. Florentino Cidro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Lucio Cordairo hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Rigoberto Abreu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Florentino Cidro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. When Anastasio Laffitte fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A. Independiente's protests and gave Anastasio Laffitte a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Grütly FC booed when C.A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anastasio Laffitte didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rigoberto Abreu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Anastasio Laffitte kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. After 40 minutes, Lucas Chale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C.A. Independiente and the Grütly FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 43 minutes into the match, Grütly FC's Rigoberto Abreu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Florentino Cidro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Rigoberto Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Grütly FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rigoberto Abreu couldn't finish the play. After 47 played minutes C.A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Tobias Goyo. After having played for 49 minutes, Rigoberto Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grütly FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rigoberto Abreu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rigoberto Abreu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Rigoberto Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute, Mateo Azibar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Florentino Cidro was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Mateo Azibar who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 99thth minute tested the skills of Florentino Cidro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When the final whistle sounded Grütly FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than C.A. Independiente.
