Genaro Abalos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucio Ekhi in the 16th minute of the match. After 29 minutes, Guaberto Ugutz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Deportivo Azul and the Sumalao players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Sumalao booed when Deportivo Azul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guaberto Ugutz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute, Carlos Ibon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sumalao's Genaro Abalos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucio Ekhi in the 34th minute of play. If Modesto Quintan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Modesto Quintan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 41 minutes into the match, Sumalao's goal looked a bit too open when Modesto Quintan came free, but Genaro Abalos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lucio Ekhi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Genaro Abalos having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The Sumalao fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Genaro Abalos should have stopped the shot. In the 57th minute, Antonio Otsoko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 60th minute, but Genaro Abalos got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Sumalao hanging dry this time. Genaro Abalos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Modesto Quintan in the 64th minute of play. Lucio Ekhi struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Genaro Abalos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deportivo Azul. Genaro Abalos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lucio Ekhi in the 67th minute. In the 70th minute of the match Maximo Estevon sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Delmiro Veronica skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Carlos Ibon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sumalao's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Ibon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Delmiro Veronica breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 76 minutes into the game, Modesto Quintan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Genaro Abalos. Modesto Quintan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Modesto Quintan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Genaro Abalos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Genaro Abalos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Modesto Quintan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Deportivo Azul eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
