Spectators: 7354 (Terracing: 5516, Seating: 1691, VIP seats: 147) Otumpa's Tadeo Jordy started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Arnulfo Caetano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 5 played minutes Otumpa got a freekick which was hit by Leonides Ariando. Manuel Platon was a little too slow when Arnulfo Caetano got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 10th minute. The score was now 1-0. Manuel Platon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Federico Baldovino, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. A collision led to Otumpa getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Domingo Orlin hit a great ball. Otumpa's defense didn't have a chance, in the 25th minute, when Arnulfo Caetano scored to the left of an out of position Manuel Platon, making the score, 2-0. Arnulfo Caetano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Platon having to interfere. In the 29th minute Arnulfo Caetano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Platon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Rene Oalo fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Otumpa's protests and gave Rene Oalo a yellow card for diving instead. Manuel Platon stood somewhat misplaced when Federico Baldovino came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 34 minute. Manuel Platon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Federico Baldovino's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Benny Rutten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Domingo Orlin in the 39th minute of play. Benny Rutten came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Otumpa's Fausto Beltran. But to his dismay, Fausto Beltran quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. In the 44th minute, Martin Mano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Federico Baldovino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Manuel Platon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Federico Baldovino was the one to do the kick off. After 52 minutes of play Otumpa's Domingo Orlin was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Arnulfo Caetano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Manuel Platon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Federico Baldovino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Paolo Clemencin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manuel Platon was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. When Arnulfo Caetano came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the C. A. Velez Sarsfield fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnulfo Caetano couldn't finish the play. If Paolo Clemencin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 70 minutes, Arnulfo Caetano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Velez Sarsfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnulfo Caetano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Manuel Platon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnulfo Caetano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Paolo Clemencin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 84 minutes of play, C. A. Velez Sarsfield's Paolo Clemencin made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Manuel Platon was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 89 played minutes Otumpa got a freekick which was hit by Zeledon Mateus. In the 94th minute, Fausto Beltran reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benny Rutten. The goal made the score 5-2. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. C. A. Velez Sarsfield fully deserved thier win.
