Haroldo Ponce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Alim Selami tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Iguassu's Julio Vergaray got a free kick in the 17th minute. A collision led to Iguassu getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Hipolito Dabi hit a great ball. If Haroldo Ponce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ieltxu Casero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Froilan Gaizkine, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ieltxu Casero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Froilan Gaizkine in the 33rd minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Franc Mallo in the 35th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Iguassu's Pascual Oton. Haroldo Ponce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute, Froilan Gaizkine reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ieltxu Casero. The goal made the score 2-0.
