The supporters of Garstang AFC booed when Ballymoney Athletic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Charles Keane didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ballymoney Athletic's zone, Florencio Maureo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frankie Cardwell came out of the goal and Florencio Maureo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 20 minutes into the game, Tim Beck was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Garstang AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ballymoney Athletic the free kick. Garstang AFC's Ali Vedat Kabataş got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Frankie Cardwell didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anselmo Spione went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After having played for 29 minutes, Anselmo Spione managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Garstang AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anselmo Spione was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ali Vedat Kabataş sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Connor Ashton's late challenge caught a Garstang AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Connor Ashton helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Ballymoney Athletic getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Connor Ashton hit a great ball. Anselmo Spione fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frankie Cardwell having to interfere. Frankie Cardwell didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 40th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. Ali Vedat Kabataş struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Frankie Cardwell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Garstang AFC.
