He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Manchester United reached it. Through an outstanding action, after 8 minutes, Ásgautur Reimarsson successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ásgautur Reimarsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Auðbergur Gretarsson in the 11th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Walter Snæbjörnsson got free with Ásgautur Reimarsson in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Task Mývatni's Skafti Hermansson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Austmar Hjaltason in the 20th minute of play. Task Mývatni's Auðbergur Gretarsson managed to work through Manchester United's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Auðbergur Gretarsson dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Austmar Hjaltason in the 26th minute of play forced Task Mývatni's goalkeeper Skafti Hermansson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Skafti Hermansson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Össur Ármannsson went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Task Mývatni's Skafti Hermansson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Össur Ármannsson in the 39th minute of play. Skafti Hermansson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arngils Þorvaldsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Austmar Hjaltason took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Skafti Hermansson. Skafti Hermansson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 46th match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geirfinnur Aronsson to maneuver through the defense.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Össur Ármannsson made a kick off. The supporters of Task Mývatni booed when Manchester United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafnar Þorgerisson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Auðbergur Gretarsson took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ásgautur Reimarsson. Ásgautur Reimarsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The long shot by Safír Reynisson in the 69th minute really tested Skafti Hermansson's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 70 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Auðbergur Gretarsson came free, but Ásgautur Reimarsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geirfinnur Aronsson to maneuver through the defense. Manchester United's Ásgautur Reimarsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Auðbergur Gretarsson in the 73rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Task Mývatni's zone, Ingjaldur Daníelsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Skafti Hermansson came out of the goal and Ingjaldur Daníelsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Task Mývatni getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Valdór Pálsson hit a great ball. In the 86th minute Auðbergur Gretarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ásgautur Reimarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 94 minutes, Össur Ármannsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Össur Ármannsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the final whistle sounded Manchester United left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Task Mývatni.
