The Udinese fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when Udinese's Ola Lagerberg looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Udinese's goalkeeper Kenneth Thomsen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Udinese booed when AZAT MARD FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jan-Ove Fagrell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pär Löfdahl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ola Lagerberg in the 28th minute of the match. When Martin Olsman came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the AZAT MARD FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Olsman couldn't finish the play. Kenneth Thomsen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Inge Risk's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Mikhail Nelepin kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. A hard shot by Jon Waller from long distance, 37 minutes into the match, got Kenneth Thomsen's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Pär Löfdahl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nils-Åke Lundgren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. AZAT MARD FC's Pär Löfdahl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nils-Åke Lundgren in the 43rd minute of play. If Inge Risk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nils-Åke Lundgren to strike the kick off in the second half. Ola Lagerberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pär Löfdahl having to interfere. Pär Löfdahl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ola Lagerberg in the 62nd minute of play. In the 66th minute Joacim Berggren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pär Löfdahl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 68 minutes into the match, AZAT MARD FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marko Livaja came free, but Pär Löfdahl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Inge Risk's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kenneth Thomsen was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Pär Löfdahl stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ola Lagerberg's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. If Jon Waller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. AZAT MARD FC's Ture Falck was substituted for Börje Vesterberg. Jon Waller struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Kenneth Thomsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AZAT MARD FC. 85 minutes into the match, AZAT MARD FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ola Lagerberg came free, but Pär Löfdahl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Viggo Lidström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Kenneth Thomsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Although AZAT MARD FC had been in control for most of the match, Udinese still came away with the win.
