The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With his leg Jacco Popken managed to avoid a goal in the 4thth minute, when Zwartenberg's Jos van Rijswijk fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 6th minute, Derk Korf got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A hard shot 8 in the game by Job van Rooijen from a close distance when the talented Jacco Popken managed to make a qualified save. Wings on Ice's players were relieved. After 10 minutes of play, Zwartenberg's Job van Rooijen made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jacco Popken was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jos van Rijswijk could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Jacco Popken made a huge save. Derk Korf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Taco Fransen charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Taco Fransen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Job van Rooijen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jacco Popken having to make a save. Jacco Popken showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Derk Korf, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 29th minute, Derk Korf reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jacco Popken. The goal made the score 2-0. Ed Batenburg kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. In the 41st match minute, Zwartenberg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bennie Grasmaaijer to maneuver through the defense. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ted Schrage stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Derk Korf shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacco Popken saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 53 minutes into the match, Derk Korf had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacco Popken. Wings on Ice's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Derk Korf was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. After a rather tough play, Wings on Ice's Ed Batenburg got a free kick in the 56th minute. If Job van Rooijen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 63 played minutes Wings on Ice got a freekick which was hit by Ed Batenburg. Derk Korf might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacco Popken. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Derk Korf ran back to his position shaking his head. 4-0 became the score in the 69th minute when Job van Rooijen elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Derk Korf managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zwartenberg's supporters rose to their feet, but Derk Korf was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacco Popken breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 84 played minutes Wings on Ice got a freekick which was hit by Ted Schrage. Jacco Popken didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Job van Rooijen went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. Job van Rooijen might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacco Popken. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Job van Rooijen ran back to his position shaking his head. There was no doubt that Zwartenberg were the better team. Zwartenberg's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
