In the 19th minute Fredrik Markusson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Courtois saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20thth minute of the game Stanislaw Koczara who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Floriana Celtics's Mats Sangolt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 21st minute of the game. One of Templars FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Floriana Celtics:s goal. In the 22nd minute there was a penalty for Floriana Celtics. Stanislaw Koczara charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stanislaw Koczara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee ignored Floriana Celtics's protests and gave Tony De Marco a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th minute of the match, Giorgio Caruana tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but André Courtois saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Keith Cassar during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 86th match minute, Floriana Celtics was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Keith Cassar to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Sammut scored 4-1 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mats Sangolt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
