Christian Spadoni's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Angelo De Palma read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by László Gyarmathy in the 19th minute of play forced Varsity Blues Velletri's goalkeeper Angelo De Palma to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Poul Wanting fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo De Palma having to interfere. 23 minutes into the game, Ettore Tarantini was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Varsity Blues Velletri's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dolphin FC the free kick. In the 23rd match minute, Varsity Blues Velletri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ettore Tarantini to maneuver through the defense. Lambert Vogl received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Angelo De Palma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Achille Mazzone got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by László Gyarmathy during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lambert Vogl made a kick off. Lambert Vogl struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. After 53 played minutes Varsity Blues Velletri got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinando Franceschelli. Angelo De Palma stood somewhat misplaced when Lambert Vogl came free in front of goal and shot 1-2 to the left of him in the 55 minute. If László Gyarmathy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 60th match minute, Varsity Blues Velletri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carmine Renzi to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Varsity Blues Velletri's Angelo De Palma got control of the ball when László Gyarmathy tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, László Gyarmathy managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dolphin FC's supporters rose to their feet, but László Gyarmathy was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Angelo De Palma breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Achille Mazzone struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Ettore Galeone didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Varsity Blues Velletri. Varsity Blues Velletri's Angelo De Palma proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Varsity Blues Velletri from getting a goal against them. In the 72nd minute, László Gyarmathy ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Angelo De Palma was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. 78 minutes into the match, Varsity Blues Velletri's goal looked a bit too open when Lambert Vogl came free, but Angelo De Palma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lambert Vogl could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Angelo De Palma made a huge save. After 83 played minutes Varsity Blues Velletri got a freekick which was hit by Achille Mazzone. László Gyarmathy could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Angelo De Palma made a huge save.
