Justin Laude's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dennis Jürgensonn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. Dennis Jürgensonn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Félicien Clermont in the 8th minute of play. Paulo Simonetti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dennis Jürgensonn having to interfere. Jérémy Ginola made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Wu Yi sent off a good shot on target. If Wu Yi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Étoile du Sud booed when Ouges was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Félicien Clermont didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute Étoile du Sud were awarded a corner. Marin Houot went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Marin Houot got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jérémy Ginola quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Étoile du Sud were furious when Augustin Peuch was red carded, 22 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 23rd match minute, Étoile du Sud was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Augustin Peuch to maneuver through the defense. Dennis Jürgensonn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulo Simonetti's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. Jonathan Montout fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jérémy Ginola having to interfere. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Jonathan Montout came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Étoile du Sud fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jonathan Montout couldn't finish the play. Wu Yi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jérémy Ginola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marin Houot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th match minute, Étoile du Sud was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wu Yi to maneuver through the defense. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

In the 74th minute of the game Robert Bontemps made a throw-in which Greg Sarrat played forward. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
