Reto Moratschke's late challenge caught a Bavert FS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bavert FS's Pitt Michalak got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the VFB Stuttgart defense, Hannes Lausen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tobias Guenther. The VFB Stuttgart fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tobias Guenther should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Bavert FS's Hauke Noffke got a free kick in the 46th minute. 47 minutes into the match, VFB Stuttgart's Walther Börnsen broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hellmut Karrenbauer to strike the kick off in the second half. Robert Sprodowski kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match.
