Tunç Akkaya recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. SSV Ulm 1846's Timo Courtois played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gianni Balla in the 28th minute of play. Timo Courtois showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Szilárd Újváry, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. 39 minutes into the match, SSV Ulm 1846's goal looked a bit too open when Gianni Balla came free, but Timo Courtois reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner went over the outstretched arms of SSV Ulm 1846's goalie and right to Maicon Fonseca. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Szilárd Újváry to make the kick off. Brandon Rick could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Timo Courtois made a huge save. 68 minutes into the match, SSV Ulm 1846's goalkeeper Timo Courtois had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Szilárd Újváry. In the 70th minute Gianni Balla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timo Courtois saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 75 minutes into the game, Gianni Balla cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Timo Courtois was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
