The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mike Robert in the 3rd minute of play forced New England Tea Men's goalkeeper Victoriano Dunixi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mac Karlen got free with Roth Sommer in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mike Robert in the 9th minute of play forced New England Tea Men's goalkeeper Victoriano Dunixi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute New England Tea Men were awarded a corner. Martin Gruenenfelder went to the cornerflag to take it. Roth Sommer made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Josep Miquelarena sent off a good shot on target. Andre Dupéré hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After having played for 25 minutes, Martin Gruenenfelder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New England Tea Men's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin Gruenenfelder was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 26 minutes into the match, Marinus Bonato notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Ticino Patriots's Roth Sommer. Roth Sommer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Ticino Patriots getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Traian Platon hit a great ball. Marinus Bonato scored 3-0 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roth Sommer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Denis Teodor took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roth Sommer. Roth Sommer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Roth Sommer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marinus Bonato went, in the 48th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 6-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mac Karlen to make the kick off. Marinus Bonato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mac Karlen in the 57th minute of play forced Ticino Patriots's goalkeeper Roth Sommer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 58 minutes into the game, Kauã Paes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ticino Patriots's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave New England Tea Men the free kick. After 58 played minutes Ticino Patriots got a freekick which was hit by Kauã Paes. In the 62nd minute of the match Martin Gruenenfelder shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roth Sommer showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Denis Teodor took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roth Sommer. Roth Sommer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-0. Roth Sommer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Teodor, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Roth Sommer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mac Karlen in the 71st minute of play. 73 minutes into the game, Mac Karlen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Roth Sommer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ticino Patriots made a substitution. Teo Vincx replaced Mike Robert. Victoriano Dunixi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Justo Jerano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Victoriano Dunixi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Justo Jerano went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 8-1 was the resulting score. Denis Teodor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Roth Sommer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cedric Gauch kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. In the 91st minute Denis Teodor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roth Sommer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 93 played minutes New England Tea Men got a freekick which was hit by Sasho Stariradev. Roth Sommer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josep Miquelarena in the 96th minute of play. When Rainer Dufresne fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored New England Tea Men's protests and gave Rainer Dufresne a yellow card for diving instead. New England Tea Men walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
