The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jasper De Mijer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Johnsson in the 6th minute of play. In the 6th minute, André Johnsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jasper De Mijer was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 10 minutes into the match, Sporting Club Gent's Tobias Blixt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jasper De Mijer narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Norbert Valckeners's late challenge caught a Sporting Club Gent's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Norbert Valckeners helped the player get up and apologised. 12 minutes into the game, one of Ad Fundum:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 14th minute, the referee gave Sporting Club Gent a penalty. Cui Lin Zhou looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Jasper De Mijer. After a rather tough play, Ad Fundum's Gust Quintens got a free kick in the 17th minute. Andries Salms showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred Thielemans, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. With an all-out effort, Sporting Club Gent's Jasper De Mijer threw himself towards the right post 25 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from André Johnsson, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 27 minutes into the match, Arsene Sielens notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Sporting Club Gent's Andries Salms. Andries Salms was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jasper De Mijer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of André Johnsson's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. If André Johnsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute, Matty Enfant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 46th match minute, Sporting Club Gent was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tobias Blixt to maneuver through the defense.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and André Johnsson made a kick off. Andries Salms made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fred Thielemans in the 60th minute. In the 61st minute of the match Ad Fundum got a corner. Sporting Club Gent's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Pieter Claeys ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Jerry Van Beets heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The audience was convinced that André Johnsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jasper De Mijer was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. A collision led to Sporting Club Gent getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Kajetan Laba hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ad Fundum's zone, André Johnsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jasper De Mijer came out of the goal and André Johnsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th minute, André Johnsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Arsene Sielens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sporting Club Gent walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
